CITY-PLANNING CONCEPT FOR THE NEW CITY CENTER

Odintsovo – Moscow, Russia

Odintsovo emerges today in one of the most interesting zones of Southwest Moscow metropolitan region: It is an area highly tensioned by the proximity of Skolkovo Innovation Center, the wealthy Rublevka, Vnukovo International Aitport, Pudushkinsky forst ant not far from the future Federal City.

Our proposal is a strong commitment to modernize the Centre of Odintsovo with new residential, public and administrative uses. The project intensifies the core center of one of the most potential location within Moscow metropolitan region, setting new standards of quality for urban space and enhancing higher levels of comfort, security and technical sophistication for a short-term and long-term sustainable development.

In this way the district plans a new strategy regarding the relationship between citizen and public space, creating active hotspots and pathways devoted to stimulate urban life: updating landscapes for people.

We have chosen the grid as the mechanism to organize into two different bands – the dual condition of the site. Three potential pathways have been set in order to channel movement of activities and bodies in the space generating identifiable urban scenes and atmospheres.

  • In the City-Grid, the basic typology is developed on a 50*100m grid, discomposed in a commercial/tertiary urban basing and free-style volumetric elements on top to host mainly residential uses.
  • The Garden-Grid groups 70% of green areas fully accommodating the Technologic Park and areas reserved for the future extension of the university.
